Colors: Bright or Subdued

Colors can say a lot about your site right away. A site with strong warm colors (reds and oranges) tends to be energetic and powerful. A site with cool colors (blues and greens) tends to relax the audience and be more inviting. Another thing you'll want to avoid is having clashing colors in your site. If your site is going to have a lot of photos as the focal point of the site, then you don't want a bright site design taking the attention away from the photos or clashing with the photo colors. Extremely bright colors work well for very young audiences. Subdued colors give a more serious tone.
